How To Make A Martinez

A classic 19th century cocktail with a murky origin story, the Martinez is one of my favorite stirred drinks.



Equipment

  1. Cocktail set (includes Boston shaker, jigger, bar spoon, hawthorne strainer, muddler)
  2. Angled measuring jigger 
  3. Fancy mixing glass
  4. Julep strainer
  5. Nick and Nora glasses

The Martinez

  • 2oz (60ml) of old tom gin
  • 1oz (30ml) of sweet vermouth
  • 1 barspoon of maraschino liqueur 
  • 1 dash of Angostura bitters
  • 1 dash of orange bitters
  • 1 lemon
  1. Add all ingredients to your mixing glass
  2. Add ice and stir for about 45 seconds
  3. Strain into a chilled Nick & Nora glass
  4. Garnish with a lemon twist
