How To Make The Martini

The Martini is a classic cocktail template and is basically the Starbucks of the cocktail world in that everyone has their preferred order. Here I talk about the language of the Martini (dry, dirty, etc) and make three of my favorite recipes.



EQUIPMENT

  1. Cocktail set (includes Boston shaker, jigger, bar spoon, hawthorne strainer, fine mesh strainer, julep strainer, muddler, cocktail picks)

  2. Angled measuring jigger

  3. Fancy mixing glass

  4. Julep strainer

  5. Cocktail glasses

  6. Nick & Nora glasses


Gin Martini

  • 2oz (60ml) London dry gin

  • 1oz (30ml) dry vermouth

  • 1 dash orange bitters

  • Lemon twist

  1. Add all liquid ingredients to a mixing glass with ice

  2. Stir and strain into a chilled Nick & Nora glass

  3. Express oils over the drink and serve


Dirty Vodka Martini

  • 2.5oz (75ml) vodka

  • .5oz (15ml) dry vermouth

  • 1 barspoon olive brine

  • Olives

  1. Add all liquid ingredients to a mixing glass with ice

  2. Stir and strain into a chilled Nick & Nora glass

  3. Garnish with olives and and serve


Martinez

  • 2oz (60ml) Old Tom gin

  • 1oz (30ml) sweet vermouth

  • 2 dashes orange bitters

  • Lemon twist

  1. Add all liquid ingredients to a mixing glass with ice

  2. Stir and strain into a chilled Nick & Nora glass

  3. Express oils over the drink and serve
